Title: Letters to Lupin Author: shadowycat Rating: G Pairing: Snape/Lupin (pre-slash, post war) Word count: 1870 Notes: Many thanks to lore for extending this challenge. I hate leaving things unfinished. Oh...I know it's not obvious, but the little figure between each letter is supposed to be an owl, just squint a bit...;P

| FIC: Another Way to Heal; NC-17 |
[Mar. 15th, 2010|07:17 pm] |
Title: Another Way to Heal Author: r_grayjoy Based On/Inspired By: Another Way to Be Free -- art by osmalic (NWS!) Pairing: Snape/Lupin Rating: NC-17 Content/Warnings: hurt/comfort Word Count: 8,900 Summary/Description: Remus just wants to save Severus. The task proves to be more complicated than it sounds, however, and requires more from Remus than he ever could have anticipated. Author's Notes: It's daily_deviant's 4th birthday this month, and to celebrate, everyone is creating works based on other pieces previously posted to the comm. The artwork on which this is based was incredibly powerful to me when I first saw it, and I thought it begged for a longer fic. Daily Deviant's birthday gave me the opportunity to provide one.

[Mar. 15th, 2010|02:54 pm] |
It was a trilogy, where the parts one and three were told from Remus' pov and the part two from Severus' pov. In the part two Severus was kidnapped and tortured by the death eaters and in the part three they went and saved Sirius from the veil.
Please help, this fic is driving me crazy! |

| Fic: What's a Few Decades Between Old Crushes? (hard R/NC-17) |
[Mar. 15th, 2010|12:13 am] |
Title: What's a Few Decades Between Old Crushes? Author: Omni (aka: rip_von_christ) Rating: Hard R/NC-17 Warnings: Some sexual situations. No beta (per usual). Disclaimer: I do not own the characters, just the situations in which I am placing them. Summary: Some long-overdue cleaning of the Potions classroom yields unexpected results. The question now is what exactly Severus plans to do with the knowledge obtained from such a surprising discovery. Notes: This is for the Letters to Lupin thing, in dedication of Lupin's birthday, yet there is no birthday-related anything in here. There are, however, letters. Plenty of letters. Oh! Also, this takes place in a world where Deathly Hallows never happened. It's post-Voldemort, with the lovely cliche of Remus returning to Hogwarts as DADA prof. You'll probably see a few other cliches about. Hah. Also, this is much...ah...nicer? fluffier?...than I usually write. _______________________ ( Click for fic ) |

For the rest of the month, let's celebrate all the crazy-wonderful dates in March!
March Madness!
Your challenge, should you accept it, is to write, drabble, art, essay, icon, discuss, etc. the special dates of March and how Snape and Lupin might relate to them. Days of note in March include:
March 2: DR. SEUSS' BIRTHDAY March 3: ALEXANDER GRAHAM BELL'S BIRTHDAY March 8: INTERNATIONAL WOMEN'S DAY March 13: URANUS DISCOVERED March 14: ALBERT EINSTEIN'S BIRTHDAY March 14: PI DAY (3.14....) March 14: DAYLIGHT SAVING TIME BEGINS March 15: THE IDES OF MARCH March 17: ST. PATRICK'S DAY March 19: THE SWALLOWS RETURN TO CAPISTRANO March 20: FIRST DAY OF SPRING/VERNAL EQUINOX March 24: HARRY HOUDINI'S BIRTHDAY
You're welcome to find other days in March to inspire you, too! Letters to Lupin works will also be welcome for the rest of March. If Remus' birthday isn't a holiday, I don't know what is. ^_^
******* Be thinking about April. We're going to attempt a post-a-day challenge, only we'll be asking for members to be responsible for posting on one day. Sign-ups will begin next week, so be thinking about what day in April will be best for you to choose. Remember, we'll need people prepared to go on day 1!
This will be an anything goes challenge, so drabbles, recs, drawables, discussions, icons, lists, etc. will be as welcome as stories and full-art. Lurkers, be thinking if you can stand coming out for a day!
Beware the Ides, and Monday! Have a good week, everyone! *HUGS MEMBERS*

| Organ transplant |
[Mar. 14th, 2010|07:20 pm] |
So this afternoon I went downtown to hear an organ concert given by a woman who's apparently big noise in the organist community. It was at one of the large Catholic cathedrals right across the street from the Statehouse. They have this amazing brand-new pipe organ. I took photos but when I sent them to my Gmail from my Droid...they never got there. Phooey.
I'm kind of fascinated by Catholic churches, the fancy kind. I was raised Lutheran so I've only been in Catholic churches a couple of times for weddings and such, and this one is the serious kind, a cathedral with vaulted stone ceilings and all kind of nooks and crannies and little off-rooms the purpose of which elude me. Several alcoves with lit candles. One with some kneelers in front of a mysterious gold jar with an ornate lid. A room called the Reconciliation Room. Is that where the confessionals are? I didn't look. And up at the altar (where we were sitting; they'd set up chairs so we could face the organist in the choir loft if we wanted to) there was this SUPER fancy chair with a big wooden thing above it and a light shining down on the chair, and it had two little chairs attached on either side. Who sits there? Is that for the head priest or something? I'm kinda fascinated. I went to a mid-century minimalist Lutheran church where we had an altar and some candles and a cross on the wall. Full stop. Oh, sometimes there were flowers. And the ministers wore vestments that pretty much looked like burlap sacks.
Anyway the concert was pretty amazing. Brahms, Mendelssohn...those romantic composers love their organ music. Afterwards I stopped off for a coffee in German Village then came back north, stopped for groceries and now it's the usual Sunday Night cooking extravaganza. Tonight's menu is peanut coleslaw and ham & chickpea soup. As always, if the recipes turn out well I will post them. |

SCARECROW AND MRS. KING DVDS. I HAS THEM.
This will be good viewing for stitching, methinks! YAAAYYYY!!
I've developed a new way to get new recipes to try at home. When I go to a bookstore, I choose a cookbook that looks interesting and flip through. If a recipe catches my eyes, I snap a photo of it with the Droid.
Do I feel guilty about this? Not a bit. |

| Epic quests |
[Mar. 13th, 2010|05:50 pm] |
Gah, I remember why I don't like to go out on Saturday afternoons. Everyone and their brother was out. Plus a lot of St. Patrick's Day shit is going down tonight, so extra crazy on the side, please.
But I had a mission. I just got a new dress from eBay that I think is super cool (it's this dress) but *gasp* I didn't have the kind of necklace I wanted for it, so I went out on a quest. Stein Mart? Zippo, plus big sale so insane amount of people. Then downtown to my favorite jewelery boutique. Nada. Stopped off to buy a couple sugar-free chocolates. Ate one, felt vaguely sick.
Headed back uptown, stopped off at the plus-size consignment store. Went next door to the tea salon for a hot tea. Stopped at the campus Target just in case, although my earlier assessment that Target's jewelry in the last few years has sucked beyond the telling was confirmed. Came back to my neighborhood. Stopped at Filene's, nothing there. Went to Kohl's, where apparently all the good jewelry lives now. Found lots of stuff, not exactly what I wanted but one that would do (it's the one I'm wearing in the above linked photo).
Came home, breathed sigh of relief. Had a peek on eBay and in the first few pages of search results I found just what I was looking for. Sigh.
Tomorrow I'm planning to go downtown to an organ concert. One of the Big Churches is having in some organ master and I kind of like organ music so I think I'll go. I'll wear my new dress. :-) |

Notes: Um, hello again! It's been a while to say the least. I wandered into the Snupin chat last night on a whim and was immediately welcomed back with open arms. It made me feel all warm and squishy inside and also inspired an impromptu sketch session on my tablet (which I hadn't used in about 6 months). Just an idle doodle capturing that feel-good feeling.
